Can Scrap Metal Be Recycled?

Broughshire Waste Metals • 13 October 2021

The short answer is, yes you can. Here at Broughshire Waste Materials, our experienced scrap metal recycling team works with both commercial and trade customers to recycle their scrap metal as efficiently as possible, without compromising on safety. At our site in Bridgend, we deal with the following kinds of metal:

●     Ferrous metals

●     Non-ferrous metals

●     Stainless steel

●     Aluminium

●     Copper

●     Brass

●     Bronze

Our team has been trading for over 28 years and will set out to make your journey with us as easy as possible while offering you all the support you need to find out what suits you best.

The Difference Between Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Metals

A ferrous metal refers to any metal that contains iron and is most often used for housing, piping and industrial containers due to its strength and durability. On the other hand, non-ferrous metals do not contain iron and are much more malleable and lighter than ferrous metals. It makes them ideal when strength is required but weight is also important, such as in aircraft.

At Broughshire Waste Materials we welcome large quantities of scrap and offer a competitively priced service that takes the most responsible approach possible to recycling by adhering to environmental legislation. Non-ferrous metals can be recycled over and over as they don’t degrade during the process whilst ferrous metal needs to be melted and purified. When you bring your scrap metal to use, you can be sure we will dispose of it responsibly and offer you a great price.

We’re Not All About Metal

While we recycle a variety of different metal types, we also accept a variety of different materials, including general and hazardous waste such as computer monitors, batteries and fridges. We are also compliant with the mandate to offer electrical equipment recycling, catering for televisions, computers, fridge freezers and many more. We work with external companies that are certified to dispose of chemical waste such as fuels and oils, in an environmentally friendly manner. If you’re unsure whether we can accept your waste, contact a member of our team for more information. Some of the other materials we recycle include:

●     PVC plastic

●     Cardboard

●     Wood

●     Polythene

Tailored to Your Needs

We have a variety of different solutions for whatever each customer’s individual needs are. We offer a number of containers and skips in different sizes to hire, with no set contracts on the duration of time you need them for.
